The best physics book for NEET 2027 is NCERT Class 11 and 12 Physics plus one MCQ book, and for most students that MCQ book is DC Pandey’s Objective Physics. Add one chapterwise previous-year (PYQ) book and you have the full set. HC Verma is optional: use it to understand concepts, not as your main question bank. Fingertips and Errorless are add-ons, not a starting point.

Amazon, Arihant and MTG listings (edition, pages, contents, seller) were re-read on 3 Nov 2026.
How we checked this page: we read each book’s Amazon listing and, where there is one, the publisher’s product page for edition, page count, publication date, contents and seller. We then matched the contents against the official NEET (UG)-2026 syllabus and the 2026 information bulletin. Where a listing doesn’t say something (such as how one edition differs from the last), we say so and show you how to check. Buyer comments are quoted as individual buyers’ reports. What is the best Physics book for NEET 2027?
NCERT for theory, DC Pandey’s Objective Physics for practice, and one PYQ book for real exam questions. That is the shortest list that covers what NEET Physics needs:
- The syllabus: read the NCERT textbooks. The NEET 2026 syllabus has 20 Physics units, and they follow NCERT’s chapters closely.
- Numericals: NEET Physics rewards problem practice more than reading. DC Pandey’s 2026-27 set has 6,000+ MCQs, with chapter theory and NEET-focused features.
- The exam’s level: a chapterwise PYQ book (MTG, Disha or Arihant) shows how NEET has actually asked each topic since 1988.
Everything else is optional. HC Verma helps if you can’t follow a concept from NCERT. Fingertips Physics adds NCERT-statement questions. Errorless adds a much bigger question bank for students who have already finished one book.
Is NCERT Physics enough for NEET?
For theory, nearly. For marks, no. NCERT’s in-chapter examples and end-of-chapter exercises are too few for the speed and variety of NEET numericals. Add an MCQ book and PYQs. Two more gaps:
- Experimental Skills (Unit 20) is in the NEET syllabus, but the rationalised NCERT books don’t teach it as a chapter. MTG’s PYQ book adds a separate “Experimental Skills” chapter for this. Our syllabus page lists what NCERT doesn’t cover.
- Old PYQs on removed topics: 39-year PYQ books include questions on topics now outside the syllabus. Check each chapter against the NCERT-to-unit map before you solve.
The longer answer for all three subjects is in Is NCERT enough for NEET?
DC Pandey Objective Physics for NEET 2027: is it worth it?
Yes. For most NEET students, DC Pandey’s Objective Physics is the one Physics MCQ book worth buying. Arihant now sells it as part of its “Medico Achiever’s Series”. The 2026-27 listings describe:
- modular theory, with a “Learning Roadmap” at the start of each chapter
- “PYQ-theory syncing” (boxes called NEET Close-up, NEET Snapshots and Extra Bytes that tie theory to past questions)
- a “NEET Trap” analysis of common mistakes
- infographics, plus digital chapter tests, mock tests and videos
- 3,000+ MCQs per volume, about 6,000 in the two-volume set
One buyer (May 2026) wrote that the questions “range from basic to NEET-level difficulty” and that the explanations are clear. That is one person’s report, not a measured difficulty.
Which listing to buy. There are three 2026-27 listings, each read on 3 Nov 2026:
- Vol 1 & 2 set: 1,834 pages, dated 21 March 2026. Its title oddly also says “JEE Preparation Book”, but the cover and contents are the NEET Medico Achiever’s edition.
- Vol 2 alone: 915 pages.
- Vol 1 alone: 917 pages. On Amazon its description text is for a JEE organic chemistry book. Go by the title and cover, which are the NEET Physics Vol 1, or buy from Arihant’s own Vol 1 NEET 2027 page.
Is DC Pandey enough for NEET Physics?
With NCERT and a PYQ book, yes for most students. On its own, no. DC Pandey doesn’t replace reading the NCERT chapter. It also can’t show you which of its 6,000 questions NEET has actually asked; a PYQ book does that. Don’t solve every question either. Do the NEET-level exercises first, and leave the harder ones for chapters where you’re already scoring well.
DC Pandey 2026 vs 2027 edition: what’s different?
Arihant doesn’t publish a list of changes, so the exact differences are unknown. What the listings show:
- The earlier set was sold as a “New Revised & Magnified Edition for NEET 2026”.
- The current set is titled “NEET 2026-2027” in the Medico Achiever’s Series. It lists the features above (modular theory, PYQ syncing, NEET Trap, digital tests) as new selling points.
- The set listing is dated 21 March 2026, before the 3 May 2026 exam and the 21 June retest. So don’t assume it contains 2026 NEET questions. The single volumes carry later dates (25 Oct and 1 Nov 2026), but that may be a reprint date; the listings don’t say whether 2026 questions were added.
Should you upgrade? If you already own the previous edition, no. Physics syllabus content didn’t change between NEET 2025 and NEET 2026. Get the 2026 questions from a 2026-27 PYQ book instead. To check a copy: open the Electrostatics chapter’s PYQ section and look for a 2026 tag.
Should I complete NCERT before starting DC Pandey?
No: work chapter by chapter. Read one NCERT chapter, solve its NCERT examples, then do that chapter in DC Pandey the same week. If you finish all of NCERT first, Class 11 mechanics will be months behind when you finally start practising it.
Are both DC Pandey Vol 1 and Vol 2 necessary, or one book plus PYQs?
You need both volumes or something that replaces one of them. The two volumes split the syllabus between them. Earlier editions put Class 11 in Vol 1 and Class 12 in Vol 2, but the 2026-27 listings don’t print the contents, so check the contents photo before you buy. “One volume plus PYQs” leaves half the syllabus with only PYQs, which is thin practice. Buy one volume at a time if money is tight, or skip a volume if your coaching module already gives you plenty of practice for that half.
HC Verma vs DC Pandey: which is better for NEET?
For NEET, DC Pandey; for understanding, HC Verma. They do different jobs:
- DC Pandey’s Objective Physics is an MCQ book written for NEET, with thousands of objective questions.
- HC Verma’s Concepts of Physics is a two-part theory and problem book. Each chapter has worked examples, short-answer questions, objective questions and subjective exercises.
Two competitor pages agree on picking one rather than running both together. Ksquare’s NEET 2027 guide says “pick one, not both” and calls DC Pandey the more targeted choice for NEET-only students. Learnzy’s dropper guide goes further and says to leave HC Verma aside for NEET because of its pace. Pick DC Pandey as your main book. Open HC Verma only for a chapter where NCERT’s explanation hasn’t clicked.
Is HC Verma necessary for NEET?
No. Plenty of students never open it. It is useful if you like learning from first principles, or your basics in mechanics are shaky. For how its two parts are organised and which edition to buy, see our HC Verma book guide.
Is HC Verma too difficult for NEET, and which chapters are worth solving?
The theory is readable; some exercise problems go beyond NEET. Buyer reports on the current listings point both ways: one buyer said the theory alone isn’t enough to solve the questions, and another wanted the numericals to be harder. If you use it, read the theory, do the worked examples and objective questions, and save the subjective exercises for chapters you’re strong in.
Here is how HC Verma’s chapters line up with the NEET 2026 Physics units:
| HC Verma chapters | NEET 2026 unit | Use for NEET |
|---|---|---|
| Physics and Mathematics; Rest and Motion: Kinematics | Units 1–2 (Measurement, Kinematics) | Worth it, especially vectors and graphs |
| Newton’s Laws, Friction, Circular Motion, Work and Energy, Centre of Mass and Collisions | Units 3–4 | Worth it: the core of mechanics |
| Rotational Mechanics | Unit 5 | Worth reading; solve selectively, the exercises get long |
| Gravitation, Simple Harmonic Motion | Units 6, 10 | Worth it |
| Fluid Mechanics, Some Mechanical Properties of Matter | Unit 7 | Worth it |
| Wave Motion, Sound Waves | Unit 10 | Partly: NEET lists standing waves, organ pipes and beats, but not the Doppler effect |
| Geometrical Optics, Optical Instruments, Light Waves | Unit 16 | Worth it |
| Dispersion and Spectra | Unit 16 (prism) | Prism deviation only |
| Speed of Light, Photometry | Not in NEET 2026 | Skip |
| Heat and Temperature, Kinetic Theory, Calorimetry, Thermodynamics, Specific Heat of Gases, Heat Transfer (Part 2) | Units 7–9 | Worth it |
| Electric Field and Potential, Gauss’s Law, Capacitors, Electric Current in Conductors | Units 11–12 | Worth it |
| Thermal and Chemical Effects of Electric Current | Unit 12 (only electrical power) | Skim |
| Magnetic Field, Field due to a Current, Permanent Magnets, Magnetic Properties of Matter | Unit 13 | Worth it |
| Electromagnetic Induction, Alternating Current, Electromagnetic Waves | Units 14–15 | Worth it |
| Photoelectric Effect, Bohr’s Model, The Nucleus, Semiconductors | Units 17–19 | Worth it; logic gates come from NCERT |
| Electric Current through Gases, X-rays, Special Theory of Relativity | Not in NEET 2026 (X-rays appear only in the EM spectrum) | Skip |
Fingertips Physics vs DC Pandey: which should you buy?
DC Pandey, if you buy only one. MTG Fingertips Physics 2026-27 (1,256 pages, NEET and JEE) is built on NCERT’s text. It has NCERT notes, topic-wise MCQs, NCERT Exemplar questions, an exam archive, and model test papers with “answer keys, hints and explanations”. MTG also lists assertion-reason, statement, matching, case- and graph-based, numerical-value and HOTS questions. That makes it good for NCERT statement and theory questions, and thinner on multi-step numericals than a book built around problem practice.
Is MTG Fingertips Physics enough for NEET?
No. It’s a useful second book for NCERT theory questions, but it shouldn’t be your only Physics practice. See how it fits with the Biology and Chemistry volumes in our MTG Fingertips review, including how the 2026-27 edition differs.
Is Errorless Physics good for NEET 2027?
Only as a second question bank, after you’ve finished one book. Universal Book Depot’s (UBD1960) Errorless Physics for NEET 2027 is a two-volume set, Vol 1 for Class 11 and Vol 2 for Class 12. A retailer listing gives it 1,628 pages and describes it as “Totally Revised & Updated”, with NCERT Exemplar and NCERT-theory questions, “Last 38 years Papers”, and “No Repeated and Similar type Questions”. We couldn’t find a working Amazon product page for the 2027 set on 3 Nov 2026, so we don’t link it.
Not everyone rates it. Learnzy’s dropper guide tells students to avoid it, citing its size, typos and old state-exam questions. Those are Learnzy’s claims, and we couldn’t check them. If you buy it, check each chapter against the NEET syllabus and skip removed topics.
Don’t mix up the names. Disha’s PYQ book is also branded “Errorless” (Disha Errorless 39 Years NEET Physics), but it’s a different publisher and a PYQ-only book.
DC Pandey vs HC Verma vs Fingertips vs Errorless: comparison
| DC Pandey Objective Physics (2026-27) | HC Verma Concepts of Physics | MTG Fingertips Physics (2026-27) | Errorless Physics (UBD1960, 2027) | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| NCERT alignment | Written for NEET; follows the NEET chapters | Its own chapter order; some chapters outside NEET (see the table above) | Built on NCERT’s text, chapter by chapter | Lists NCERT Exemplar and NCERT-theory questions |
| Difficulty | One buyer: “basic to NEET-level” | Theory is clear; some exercises go past NEET | Mostly NCERT recall and direct application | Not measured |
| Theory | Modular theory before each chapter’s MCQs | The fullest: it’s a textbook | Short NCERT notes | Not described for the 2027 edition |
| Numerical practice | Strong: 6,000+ MCQs in the set | Worked examples and subjective problems | Limited; some numerical-value questions | Large: two volumes, 1,628 pages |
| Explanations | Solutions given; one buyer called them clear | Answers to exercises; worked examples in the text | “Answer keys, hints and explanations” | Unknown for the 2027 edition |
| Edition and syllabus | NEET 2026-27 set dated March 2026 | Listing’s edition field is 2025; “Session 2026-27” is the print session | 2026-27, dated 30 June 2026 | 2027 edition at retailers; no Amazon page found |
| Who it suits | Almost every NEET student as the main book | Students who need concepts explained, or also aim for JEE | Revision of NCERT theory lines | Students who finished one book and want more questions |
Which is the best MCQ book for NEET Physics?
DC Pandey’s Objective Physics. It’s the only one of the four built mainly around NEET-style MCQs with chapter theory. Fingertips is narrower (NCERT lines). Errorless is bigger, but you only need that many questions once you’ve finished one book.
Which book is best for numerical practice?
DC Pandey for volume, PYQs for the real exam’s style, HC Verma for depth. Start with DC Pandey’s NEET-level exercises. Then solve the same chapter’s PYQs. Use HC Verma’s subjective exercises only for chapters you want to push further.
Which question bank is best for beginners?
One DC Pandey volume for the class you’re in, plus a PYQ book later. Start with the easier exercises in each chapter. Leave the hardest questions until you’re getting most of the easy ones right. Don’t start with Errorless: its size can stall a beginner.
Best NEET Physics PYQ book: MTG 39 Years vs Disha vs Arihant
Any one of the three is fine. Pick Disha if you want the 2026 retest printed inside, MTG if you want the Experimental Skills chapter, and Arihant if you want questions sorted by level. All three are chapterwise 1988–2026 collections. Buy one, not two.
| MTG 39 Years NEET Physics | Disha Errorless 39 Years NEET Physics | Arihant 39 Years NEET Physics | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pages | 332 | 312 (21st edition) | 353 |
| Years | 1988–2026 | 2026–1988 | 2026–1988 |
| NEET 2026 | “With NEET 2026 Paper”. MTG says Re-NEET papers were offered free after 21 June 2026. Buyers disagree on whether the retest is printed | Lists the 21 June 2026 retest and the cancelled papers | Arihant’s own page title lists the “Re-NEET 2026 Paper”; the Amazon listing (dated 14 May 2026) doesn’t |
| Arrangement | 14 Class 11 + 14 Class 12 chapters, plus Experimental Skills | 29 chapters, 186 topics, newest papers first | Chapterwise, topicwise and levelwise |
| Extras | Video solutions for selected questions; multicolour | NCERT page locator for each question, 87 mini quizzes, self-grading stickers | 1,800+ questions, chapter weightage indicator, “Trap Alert”, NTA-authenticated answers (per Arihant) |
| Watch out | Check the retest before buying | Individual buyers reported poor binding, an old-looking copy and missing stickers | Amazon’s description block is for the Hindi edition; go by the title |
More on paper coverage and checking solutions: best NEET PYQ books.
Which book is closest to actual NEET Physics difficulty?
A PYQ book, by definition: it’s the actual NEET questions. None of these publishers states a measured difficulty against NEET, and we can’t measure it either. To test any book yourself: take one chapter, solve 15 of its questions timed, and then 15 of that chapter’s recent NEET PYQs. If your accuracy and time per question are similar, the book is at NEET level for you. NEET gives you 180 minutes for 180 questions, so about a minute per question across the paper.
Best Physics books for Class 11 and Class 12
Best Physics book for NEET Class 11
NCERT Class 11 plus DC Pandey’s Class 11 volume. Class 11 is mostly mechanics, heat, oscillations and waves, and the syllabus split by class shows which units belong to Class 11. If mechanics concepts don’t make sense from NCERT, read those chapters in HC Verma Part 1.
Best Physics book for NEET Class 12
NCERT Class 12 plus DC Pandey’s Class 12 volume, then a PYQ book. In Class 12 your board exam and NEET overlap, so solve NCERT’s exercises properly; they help with both.
Building Physics from zero: books for weak students
Start with NCERT only. Add one MCQ book once you can solve the NCERT examples without looking. Weak Physics is usually weak mechanics and maths (vectors, graphs, basic calculus). Fix that first:
- Read the first chapters of NCERT Class 11, then do every in-text example.
- Use HC Verma’s “Physics and Mathematics” and “Rest and Motion” chapters for the maths tools.
- Then start DC Pandey’s easiest exercises, one chapter at a time.
SL Arora vs Pradeep’s vs HC Verma for weak students
For a weak student, a school reference book (SL Arora or Pradeep’s) is gentler than HC Verma; for NEET marks, none of them replaces an MCQ book.
- Pradeep’s Fundamental Physics (Class 11, Vol 1 & 2, 2026-27, 2,072 pages) lists NCERT exercise solutions, Exemplar, CBSE-style competency questions, MCQs and assertion-reason, and a “Competition Focus for NEET, JEE” section. Individual buyers reported a missing volume and a damaged copy, so check the parcel on arrival.
- SL Arora’s New Simplified Physics (Dhanpat Rai) is another two-volume school reference with long worked explanations. The Amazon listing we found had the wrong page count and edition, so we don’t link it; buy the current session’s edition from a bookshop or the publisher.
- HC Verma is shorter and more conceptual. It suits a student who wants to understand why, rather than more worked examples.
How to choose: read the same topic, for example projectile motion, in the sample pages of each. Pick the one you can follow without help. These books are big and board-focused, so read them only for the chapters where you’re stuck.
Have Allen or Aakash modules: do you still need DC Pandey?
Usually not at first. Finish your modules and add a PYQ book; buy DC Pandey only for chapters where practice is thin. Check your module, chapter by chapter:
- Does each chapter have graded exercises with full solutions, not just answer keys?
- Are recent NEET PYQs included and tagged by year?
- Are you finishing the module exercises, or skipping them?
If the answers are yes, more books add little. Learnzy’s dropper guide makes the same point: one module plus chapterwise PYQs. If your module is thin or you’ve left the institute, DC Pandey is the natural replacement.
Can I score 150+ in Physics with only NCERT, DC Pandey and PYQs?
It’s possible, but no book combination guarantees it. The NEET (UG) 2026 bulletin gives Physics 45 questions worth 180 marks, at +4 for a correct answer and −1 for a wrong one. That means 150 needs about 38–40 correct:
- 38 correct and 2 wrong gives 150
- 40 correct and 5 wrong gives 155
- 37 correct with no wrong answers gives only 148
That’s under seven lost questions out of 45. Those three books cover the content. What decides the score is how many full-length timed Physics sections you sit and how carefully you go over your mistakes.
Six months left: DC Pandey, Fingertips or only PYQs?
PYQs first, then DC Pandey for weak chapters; skip Fingertips Physics unless theory questions are your problem.
- Months 1–4: for each chapter, do NCERT, then its PYQs, then DC Pandey’s exercises for chapters where you scored under about 60% on the PYQs.
- Months 5–6: a timed 45-question Physics section every few days, plus your error log.
If you already own Fingertips, use it for NCERT statement questions in the last month.
Dropper scoring below 80 in Physics: which books for numericals?
DC Pandey plus one PYQ book. Don’t buy anything else until you’ve finished both. A score below 80 of 180 usually means only about 20–25 correct answers. That’s often weak mechanics and electricity, not a lack of books.
- Re-read the NCERT chapter and redo its examples.
- Do 30–40 DC Pandey questions daily from that chapter, easiest exercises first.
- Then solve that chapter’s PYQs without looking at solutions.
- Keep an error log: chapter, mistake type (concept, formula, calculation, misread) and the fix.
Skip HC Verma’s long exercises and Errorless for now.
No coaching: is NCERT + HC Verma + one MCQ book enough?
Yes, but make the MCQ book your main book and HC Verma your reference. The minimum self-study set is NCERT + DC Pandey + a PYQ book. Add HC Verma only for chapters you can’t understand from NCERT, and read its theory before its exercises. Without coaching you also need timed tests: use the model papers in your MCQ book or past NEET papers.
Best NEET Physics books under ₹1,000
NCERT (free PDFs) + one DC Pandey volume + one PYQ book stays under ₹1,000. Rough bands on Amazon:
- one DC Pandey 2026-27 volume: about ₹650–700
- an MTG, Disha or Arihant 39 Years Physics PYQ book: about ₹250–270
- NCERT Physics: free to download, or the printed books cost extra
That covers half the syllabus in DC Pandey and the whole syllabus in PYQs. Buy the second volume when you reach that half. A lower-cost alternative is HC Verma Part 1 with a PYQ book, but you’d still need an MCQ source later.
Prices checked on 3 Nov 2026.
90-day NEET Physics plan with NCERT, DC Pandey and a PYQ book
About 60 days for one pass through the 28 NCERT chapters, 20 days for PYQs and weak chapters, and 10 days for timed sections. The 2026-27 PYQ books split Physics into 14 Class 11 and 14 Class 12 chapters, so plan around 28 chapters.
| Days | Daily work | Daily numericals |
|---|---|---|
| 1–60 | One chapter every two days: NCERT theory and examples on day one, DC Pandey on day two | 40 DC Pandey MCQs + 15 PYQs from the same chapter |
| 61–80 | PYQ book cover to cover, chapter by chapter, without solutions; redo all wrong answers | 45–60 PYQs |
| 81–90 | A timed 45-question Physics section every other day; the error log on the days between | 45 timed + 20 from the error log |
Put heavier chapters (rotational motion, electrostatics, current electricity, optics, modern physics) on lighter days in your other subjects. On days 1–60, don’t move on until you can solve the chapter’s NCERT examples without looking.
NEET Physics books in Hindi and for JEE
Hindi-medium students: MTG and Arihant both sell Hindi editions of their 39 Years Physics PYQ books. For the rest of the list, see our NEET books in Hindi guide. If you’re preparing for JEE too, HC Verma becomes much more useful: see the JEE Physics books guide. For the other two NEET subjects, see our Biology and Chemistry book guides.
FAQs
What is the best Physics book for NEET 2027?
NCERT Class 11 and 12 for theory, DC Pandey’s Objective Physics for MCQs and numericals, and one chapterwise PYQ book (MTG, Disha or Arihant).
Is NCERT Physics enough for NEET?
Not for marks. It covers almost all the theory, but you need many more numericals and past NEET questions. Experimental Skills also isn’t taught as an NCERT chapter.
Is DC Pandey Objective Physics good for NEET 2027?
Yes. The 2026-27 set has 6,000+ MCQs with chapter theory, PYQ-linked boxes and a “NEET Trap” section. Use it with NCERT and a PYQ book.
Which is the best PYQ book for NEET Physics?
Any one of MTG 39 Years, Disha 39 Years or Arihant 39 Years. Disha lists the 2026 retest. MTG adds an Experimental Skills chapter. Arihant sorts questions by level.
Is HC Verma necessary for NEET?
No. It’s useful for understanding concepts, especially mechanics, but DC Pandey and PYQs are closer to the exam. Skip its chapters that aren’t in the NEET syllabus.
HC Verma or DC Pandey: which is better for NEET?
DC Pandey as your main book. HC Verma is a theory and problem book, so use it as a reference when NCERT’s explanation isn’t enough.
Is MTG Fingertips Physics enough for NEET?
No. It’s good for NCERT theory questions, but thinner on multi-step numericals. Use it alongside DC Pandey or your module, not instead of them.
Is Errorless Physics good for NEET 2027?
Only as a second question bank once you’ve finished one book. Check removed topics against the syllabus before you solve.
What is the difference between the DC Pandey 2026 and 2027 editions?
Arihant hasn’t published a list of changes. The current “NEET 2026-2027” set adds Medico Achiever’s features such as modular theory, PYQ syncing and digital tests. If you own the earlier edition, don’t upgrade; get 2026 questions from a PYQ book.
Are both DC Pandey volumes needed?
Yes, unless your module already covers one half of the syllabus well. Buy one volume at a time.
Should I finish NCERT before starting DC Pandey?
No. Do them chapter by chapter: the NCERT chapter first, then the same chapter in DC Pandey that week.
I have Allen modules. Should I buy DC Pandey?
Not straight away. Finish the module exercises and add a PYQ book. Buy DC Pandey for chapters where the module’s practice is thin.
Can I score 150+ in NEET Physics with NCERT, DC Pandey and PYQs?
It’s possible, but nothing guarantees it. 150 of 180 needs about 38–40 of the 45 questions right, so timed practice matters as much as the books.
Which Physics book is best for weak students?
Start with NCERT alone. Then add one DC Pandey volume, easiest exercises first. If you need more explanation, a school reference such as Pradeep’s or SL Arora is gentler than HC Verma.
What is the best NEET Physics book combination under ₹1,000?
Free NCERT PDFs, one DC Pandey volume and one 39 Years PYQ book. Buy the second volume later.
Which book is closest to the actual NEET Physics level?
A PYQ book, because it contains real NEET questions. Test any other book by comparing your speed and accuracy on 15 of its questions with 15 recent PYQs from the same chapter.
