CTET Books 2026: Prices, ISBNs and the One Guide to Buy

Most CTET candidates don’t need more CTET books; they need to finish the right ones. The 22nd CTET moved from 6 September to 12 and 13 December 2026 (CBSE public notice dated 14 September). That leaves about six weeks: enough time to work through one guide and a set of past papers, and not enough to start a second guide. In the February 2026 CTET, only 33.69% qualified in Paper 1 and 18.56% in Paper 2, so the problem is rarely a shortage of books. Below: what to buy for your paper and medium, with ISBNs and prices checked on 26 Oct 2026, which PYQ book (if any), what to buy at each stage, and the Arihant combos that cost more than buying the books separately.

Quick verdict

• If you buy only one book: Arihant Success Master CTET 2026 for your paper and medium (six versions, ₹392–431 on Amazon). It’s the only series here covering every paper and subject option in both Hindi and English, with notes, about 3,000 MCQs and solved papers in one book. Check its answers against CBSE’s final keys (see the complaints below).
• Budget pick under ₹500: Success Master itself fits. For practice only: CTET Kit Paper 1 Hindi (₹271 Flipkart / ₹313 Amazon), Kit Paper 1 English (₹326), Disha 22 Year-wise Paper 2 SST (₹262–263) or Oswaal Paper 2 Maths & Science (₹355 Flipkart).
• Free route: official CTET papers and final answer keys, plus NCERT Class 1–8 textbooks.
• Skip: Arihant’s multi-book combos (dearer than the parts), “(Old Edition)” Success Master listings (one costs more than the new one), and owning two year-wise PYQ books for the same paper.

Match the book to your paper first

From the CTET Information Bulletin. Every paper has 150 one-mark MCQs in 2.5 hours, with no negative marking, and you need 60% to qualify.

What is the CTET Paper 1 syllabus? Five sections of 30 questions each: Child Development and Pedagogy (child development 15, inclusive education 5, learning and pedagogy 10), Mathematics and EVS (each half content, half how to teach it), and Language I and II (comprehension 15, language pedagogy 15). The full topic list is in Appendix-I of the CTET Information Bulletin (PDF pages 14–20); our CTET syllabus page sets it out section by section.

Shift timings for December hadn’t been announced as of 26 Oct 2026. The bulletin’s timings were for the original 6 September date, so go by your admit card and CBSE’s CTET notices.

Buy the Paper 2 volume for your option. The Maths & Science book is no use for Social Studies, and vice versa. The books here cover English and Hindi as languages; if you chose another language, plan for it separately.

All the Arihant 2026 titles were published in May 2026, and Arihant had no 2027 CTET editions listed on 26 Oct. If you’re sitting in December, buy now.

Child Development and Pedagogy (both papers)

Do you need Drishti’s CDP book? Only if you want a separate, fuller CDP book. Success Master covers CDP for your paper, so most readers can skip it. It may suit you if CDP is your weakest section or you’re preparing for several teaching exams (Drishti lists it for CTET, DSSSB, KVS, REET and UP-TET too). Drishti’s store listing doesn’t state the edition or ISBN, though the sample pages it links do (see the table), and we didn’t find a Drishti-sold Amazon listing, so buy from Drishti’s own store.

Mathematics and EVS (Paper 1)

Maths & Science or Social Studies (Paper 2)

Language I and II (English and Hindi): every Success Master volume covers both, so no separate book is needed.

Success Master: the main guide, with one big caveat

Each volume combines chapter-wise notes, “3,000+ exam-based MCQs” and solved papers for CDP, your subjects and Language I/II (English and Hindi). Amazon credits the 2026 series to Prateek Beniwal; older listings and previews say “Arihant Experts”.

What buyers praise: notes and MCQs in one place, a clear structure for first-timers, and good value at the discounted price. The Hindi Paper 2 SST volume draws the most consistently positive reviews in the series.

What buyers complain about: answer keys. It’s the recurring theme across the series:

• P1 English: buyers report wrong keys and thin material, and suggest adding NCERT.
• P2 Maths & Science (English): many questions and answers needed correcting.
• P2 SST (English): many answers are wrong, and keys appear only in some chapters, so answers are hard to find.
• P2 Ganit evam Vigyan (Hindi): wrong options marked correct. Readers also want English technical terms alongside the Hindi.
• The 2022 edition drew the same complaints, so this isn’t a one-off.

Some top-rated reviews read as templated, so we weigh the critical ones more heavily. How to live with it: when an answer looks wrong, check CBSE’s final answer key for that paper, and check the NCERT chapter for content questions. Don’t memorise an unexplained key.

Before you order, read a sample explanation where the listing or Arihant’s site offers a preview. If the written explanations are too brief for you, a shorter revision book won’t fix that; you need fuller teaching for those topics, such as the NCERT chapter or a free lesson.

Doesn’t cover: languages other than English and Hindi. Buyers also suggest adding NCERT where the notes feel thin.

Success Master, CTET Kit or a combo?

CTET Kit Paper 1 is a lighter revision book: teacher handouts (notes), 5 solved papers and 5 practice sets with OMR sheets, organised as a “15 Days Challenge”.

• Buy it if: you’ve studied the material and want a short, timed revision run in the final weeks.
• Skip it if: you own Success Master for the same paper. The notes overlap; buy it only if you specifically want OMR-format mocks.
• Buyers say: the English Kit has hazy print and unclear CDP diagrams. Hindi Kit buyers are mostly positive, but there are only about 20 ratings on each site.
• Own Success Master and only want shorter notes? First turn your marked passages and repeated mistakes into a few pages of your own revision notes. They will target your weak spots better than any printed summary.
• Medium: the Kit comes in English and Hindi medium. Pick the medium you study in comfortably; Language I and II are a separate choice, so check your language sections are covered.
• A seller’s “complete kit” is not Arihant’s CTET Kit. Read the item names in the listing and check the paper, subject option and medium before you compare prices.
• There’s no Paper 2 Kit on this page. Don’t buy the Paper 1 Kit for Paper 2.

Combos cost more than the parts. Prices on 26 Oct 2026:

Delivery charges weren’t compared. Beyond the price, the solved-paper book repeats official papers CBSE gives away free. Buy the guide, then add a PYQ book only if you want worked explanations.

Which PYQ book, if any?

Oswaal, Disha and Arihant’s 35 Solved Papers all reprint the same official CTET papers that CBSE publishes free. Success Master includes solved papers too. Buy at most one PYQ book, and only for its explanations.

• Oswaal 19 PYQs (English only; Oswaal has no Hindi CTET PYQ book). It covers 19 year-wise papers from 2013–2025 plus 8 Feb 2026.
  • Buyers say: content and clarity get good marks on the Paper 2 M&S volume, and each volume has 100+ mostly positive ratings on Flipkart. One Paper 1 review complains of wrong answers; on Paper 2 SST, readers want better keys and find the font small.
  • About the “2027” labels: Oswaal markets a bundle as “CTET 2027”, but the contents are the same papers.
• Disha 22 Year-wise P2 SST, 7th edition (2026–2011, ₹262).
  • Replaces the older “15 Year-wise 2011–2022” edition this page listed before.
  • Overlaps almost completely with Oswaal P2 SST, so buy one.
  • Buyers say: too few reviews (17 on Amazon) to draw conclusions.
• Hindi Paper 1: Arihant 35 Solved Papers (₹408) or the free official papers.
  • Arihant 15 Practice Sets (₹207): one recent review says the correct answers aren’t clearly marked.
• Repeaters sitting in 2027: wait for editions that include the December 2026 paper.

Buy by stage (exam: 12–13 Dec 2026)

Admit cards come out 2 days before the exam and city slips about 15 days before, per CBSE’s notice.

Counterfeit copies and overpriced “(Old Edition)” listings

• Old editions priced above new ones: the 2025 Success Master P1 English (ISBN 9789364378635) is sold on Amazon as “(Old Edition)” at ₹497 from a print-on-demand seller, against ₹392 for the 2026 edition. A 2022 edition (ISBN 9789326196178) is also still listed, at ₹468 (both 26 Oct 2026).
• Reseller mark-ups: a “Success Master 2026 Hindi Guide” listing (B0H6JBV527) asks ₹580; the genuine P1 Hindi listing is ₹421.
• “Free GK book” bundles (one was listed at about ₹470 on 19 Oct) don’t confirm which edition is inside. Use the ISBN listings in our table.
• Used-looking copies: buyers report torn or folded covers and second-hand-looking books from third-party sellers. Check the copy on arrival and return it if the edition or condition is wrong.
• Buy from: the ISBN-matched listings above, or direct from Arihant, Oswaal or Disha. Disha’s site price for the P2 SST book (₹263) is within ₹1 of Flipkart’s lowest.

Free resources that are genuinely enough

• Official CTET papers and final answer keys: Feb 2026 papers, the CTET archive (papers from December 2018 onwards) and previous final keys on ctet.nic.in. The keys give the accepted answer, not the reasoning.
• NCERT Class 1–8 textbooks (EVS, Maths, Science, Social Science; Hindi and English) at ncert.nic.in and on the ePathshala and DIKSHA apps. CTET content questions are pitched at this level, and several Success Master buyers recommend adding NCERT.

How to crack CTET?

Work in stages, with one book per job. First, buy Success Master for your paper, subject option and medium, and read NCERT chapters for weak content topics. Next, practise with the free official papers (or one PYQ book if you want worked explanations) and check doubtful answers against CBSE’s final keys. In the final 4–6 weeks, sit timed full papers in two and a half hours and revise the sections where you lose most marks. You need 60% (90 of 150), and there’s no negative marking, so answer every question. The buy-by-stage table above lists what to buy and skip at each step.

Which CTET books should a beginner buy first?

Success Master CTET 2026 for your paper, subject option and medium (₹392–431 on Amazon). Use the free official papers for practice before buying a PYQ book.

Can one book be enough for CTET preparation?

For many candidates, yes: one Success Master plus free official papers and NCERT chapters for weak topics. Just verify doubtful answers against CBSE’s final keys.

Should I buy both Paper 2 subject volumes?

No. Buy only Maths & Science or only Social Studies, whichever you chose. Both include CDP and the languages.

Is it necessary to replace an older CTET book?

No, if it’s the 2025 or 2026 Success Master. Download the newest official papers for free. Replace anything older than 2025 only if its explanations aren’t working for you.

Are NCERT textbooks enough without a CTET guide?

For subject content, NCERT is the base. CTET also tests pedagogy and language teaching, which NCERT textbooks don’t teach. That’s what the guide is for.

Is Drishti’s CTET CDP book worth buying?

Only as an extra for Child Development and Pedagogy. Drishti sells it on its own store at ₹280 in English and ₹312 in Hindi (checked 26 Oct 2026). Success Master covers CDP too, so buy Drishti’s book only if CDP is your weak section or you’re also preparing for other teaching exams.

Should I choose Arihant, Oswaal or Disha?

They do different jobs. Arihant Success Master is a study guide. Oswaal and Disha are past-paper books (Oswaal is English only; Disha’s Paper 2 SST is the cheapest). Buy one guide and, at most, one PYQ book.

Is CTET Kit the same as a Success Master combo?

No. The Kit is a single Paper 1 revision book (notes, 5 solved papers, 5 practice sets with OMR sheets), and it doesn’t cover Paper 2. The combo is three separate books, and it costs more than buying them individually. If you own Success Master, add the Kit only for its OMR-format mocks.

Is a 15-day revision plan enough to clear CTET?

Only if you’ve studied the syllabus. With the pass rate at 18.56% for Paper 2 in February 2026, treat the Kit’s 15-day plan as a final run, not a full preparation.

Can I clear CTET in 3 months?

It depends on your base. A 12-week plan with one guide: weeks 1–3 pedagogy (CDP); 4–8 your content sections; 9–10 languages; 11–12 timed official papers checked against CBSE’s keys. For December 2026 you have about seven weeks, so compress weeks 1–8.

Can a B.Ed holder take CTET Paper 1?

The September 2026 CTET bulletin (section 6) doesn’t list qualifications; it says they are as notified by NCTE. Check the current NCTE notification on NCTE’s website (ncte.gov.in, as the bulletin gives it) before applying for Paper 1.
