JEE PYQ books all reprint the same official papers, and NTA and the JEE Advanced site give those away free, so what you’re paying for is chapter sorting and solutions. NTA has fixed JEE Main 2027 Session 1 for 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 and 28 January 2027, with applications open from 24 October to 22 November 2026 (NTA public notice, 24 Oct 2026); Session 2 is in April 2027. The 2027 syllabus is word-for-word the 2026 syllabus apart from the year, so a 2027-exam edition built on the 2026 syllabus is still current. That leaves about three months, so finishing one book matters more than which one you pick. This page helps you choose Main-only or Main + Advanced coverage first, then compares the Disha, MTG, Arihant and Oswaal editions.

Quick verdict

If you buy only one book: Disha Errorless 202 Chapter-wise & Topic-wise 25 Year JEE Main PYQs (2026–2002), 10th edn, PCM combo (ISBN 9789371864961). It costs ₹1,405 from Disha, ₹1,414 on Amazon and ₹1,354 on Flipkart (print-on-demand seller). It has all 20 JEE Main 2026 papers, and Disha says topics that left the syllabus have been removed. The MTG 25 Years set (₹1,485) is an equal alternative. Buy one, not both.

Also sitting JEE Advanced? Buy the Disha 49 Years Advanced + 25 Year Main, 22nd edn combo instead, not as well.

Budget pick (under ₹500): no full PCM set costs under ₹500. Buy the single for your weakest subject: Disha Chemistry, 10th edn, ₹468, or MTG Physics 25 Years, ₹490. Use the free official papers for the rest.

Main-only or Main + Advanced: choose one set

This is the decision that saves the most money.

Your plan Buy Why not the other
JEE Main only (NIT, IIIT or state admission) One Main-only set: Disha 10th edn or MTG 25 Years or Oswaal 25 Years A combined set adds decades of Advanced questions you won’t sit, plus older Main questions outside the current Main syllabus
Main + Advanced One combined set: Disha 49 + 25, 22nd edn (or Arihant / MTG 49 + 25) Its Main sections repeat the Main-only set’s questions. Owning both means paying twice for the same Main papers
Advanced, with Main from coaching Combined set, or free Advanced archive papers plus your module —

Disha says its combined set deliberately keeps some older Main questions that are outside today’s Main syllabus but useful for Advanced. That is helpful if you are sitting Advanced and a distraction if you are not. In a combined book, check the chapter’s Main section before you attempt it.

Decision chart for choosing a JEE PYQ book. If you are also sitting JEE Advanced, buy one combined set, Disha 49 Years Advanced plus 25 Year Main 22nd edition, or Arihant or MTG 49 plus 25, instead of a Main-only set. If you already own a JEE Main PYQ book, keep it if it reaches 2025 and download the 2026 papers free from NTA. If you need only one subject for now, buy the Disha 10th edition or MTG 25 Years single for it. Otherwise buy one Main-only PCM set, not two: Disha Errorless 202, 25 Year JEE Main, 10th edition (ISBN 9789371864961), or MTG 25 Years (2026–2002) JEE Main PYQ (ISBN 9789375444596). Oswaal adds chapter notes and PW 8 Years is a shorter, recent archive; Arihant's coverage is selective. Then use the book chapter by chapter: finish the chapter, do a timed PYQ set, mark each mistake, re-attempt after three or four days, and move to full timed NTA papers once most chapters are done.
Every series reprints the same official papers, so the real choice is Main-only or Main plus Advanced. Pick one set, then work through it chapter by chapter before switching to NTA’s full papers.

What each publisher offers

Disha (Main-only 10th edn, and combined 22nd edn)

The Main-only set covers 185 online papers (2012–2026) and 18 offline papers (2002–2018), including all 20 papers from 2026. It separates MCQs from numerical-value questions within each topic and puts solutions after each chapter. The combined set gives every chapter separate Main and Advanced sections. One oddity: Disha’s own description gives the Main range as 2013–2026 in one place and 2002–2026 in the title. Amazon’s combo listing also says “13th” edition while the title says 10th; Disha confirms 10th.

What buyers say: buyers find the chapter and topic layout good for systematic revision, the solutions detailed, and the answer keys consistent with NTA’s. Physics buyers mention the page locator and revision stickers. A few forum users report missing or repeated questions and some very short solutions (individual reports, so check the contents and solutions when your copy arrives). On the combined set, buyers praise the clear solutions and organisation; a few received damaged pages or packaging.

MTG 25 Years JEE Main (2027 edition)

This is a Main-only archive; Amazon buyers say it has hints and solutions for nearly every question. It is Disha’s closest rival, and forum users often prefer it for Main completeness (individual forum opinions, not a survey). Amazon is cheaper than Flipkart for the set (₹1,485 vs ₹1,770 on 26 Oct 2026). A Hindi-medium Physics volume is available (₹495). MTG also sells a combined 49 + 25 Main & Advanced set (₹1,780).

What buyers say: many call it the best Main PYQ book. One wanted finer topic separation inside chapters.

Arihant 49 + 25 (Main + Advanced)

Arihant arranges questions by chapter, topic and level, with a weightage indicator and revision tags. That suits a student who wants a graded order of practice.

Caveat: Arihant’s coverage is selective. Buyers repeatedly report that the books hold relatively few questions, with many JEE Main questions missing. On the Maths volume, they also report missing recent Advanced questions and Main and Advanced questions mixed together rather than separated. Treat it as a graded practice book for an Advanced-leaning plan, not as a complete Main archive. Pair it with free NTA papers if you use it for Main.

Oswaal JEE Main 25 Years’ (2027 edition)

Oswaal adds short chapter notes and mind maps beside the questions. It includes the January and April 2026 papers. It is the most expensive set, with an MRP of ₹3,297. Buy it only if you value the revision notes next to the questions. We found too few reviews to report buyer feedback.

Oswaal’s price: if you see ₹399 quoted for the Physics single, it doesn’t match the publisher. On 26 Oct 2026 Oswaal’s own product page, Amazon and Flipkart all show an MRP of ₹1,099 for each 2027-exam single (Physics 9789377137762, Chemistry 9789377134426, Maths 9789377139148). Oswaal sells each at ₹824.25 and the PCM set at ₹2,307.90 (MRP ₹3,297). A ₹245 Amazon offer seen earlier was a one-off print-on-demand copy and has gone.

PW JEE Main 8 Years (2027 edition)

PW’s chapter-wise JEE Main PYQ books cover only 2019–2026 (“All 162 Sets”), published in 2026 “For JEE Main 2027”. Amazon lists the singles at 650 (Physics), 600 (Chemistry) and 750 (Maths) pages, published 20 April 2026. Prices on 26 Oct 2026:

  • Singles: ₹720 / ₹680 / ₹720 on PW’s store; ₹499 / ₹471 / ₹499 on Amazon (sold by Cocoblu Retail, fulfilled by Amazon); ₹351 / ₹332 / ₹346 on Flipkart on the evening of 26 Oct 2026, from Repro-Books-on-Demand, a print-on-demand seller that held the main buy box then. Flipkart’s main seller changes: that morning Physics Wallah itself held it on the singles, at ₹564 / ₹540 / ₹564, so check who the seller is at checkout.
  • PCM combo of 3 (ISBN 9789378189197): ₹1,562 on PW’s store, ₹1,308 on Amazon, ₹786 on Flipkart (Repro-Books-on-Demand, the main seller on the evening of 26 Oct 2026; earlier that day it was also Repro, at ₹1,302).

It’s a much shorter archive than the 25-year sets, but all recent, so it suits a student who wants only the papers since 2019. At ₹1,308 the Amazon combo costs about the same as Disha’s 25-year combo (₹1,414), which has 17 more years of papers. We haven’t compared PW’s solutions with the others. The “7 Years (2019–2025)” combo is the old edition.

How to use a PYQ book chapter-wise

  1. Finish the chapter first from your theory source.
  2. Do that chapter’s PYQs as a timed set, with the solutions closed.
  3. Mark each mistake: concept, formula, calculation or misread.
  4. Re-attempt the wrong ones after three or four days, without looking at your old working.
  5. Keep full papers for later: NTA’s free papers, timed, once most chapters are done.

Fake copies and “(Old Edition)” traps

Check before you pay

  • Edition on the cover: the current books say 2026–2002 / 2002–2026 and “For 2027 Exam”. Old editions such as MTG’s 22 Years (For 2024 Exam) and Oswaal’s 23 Years (For 2025 Exams) still appear in search results and are missing the latest papers.
  • Match the ISBN in our table with the listing and the copyright page.
  • Print-on-demand sellers fulfil many cheap offers. That isn’t a fake, but check print and binding on delivery and return poor copies.
  • Unrealistically cheap singles (far below every other listing) are often a pricing error or a one-off copy. Don’t plan around them.
  • Buy a set of three only if you need all three subjects. If one book repeats material you have, buy singles.

Official JEE Main papers and answer keys (free)

Every book above reprints these. NTA’s JEE Main site on 26 Oct 2026:

  • 2026 Session 2 (April) B.Tech papers: nine shift papers under the “Question Papers” menu, for example the 2 April, Shift 1 paper.
  • 2026 Session 2 B.Tech final answer key: PDF. It gives question IDs and correct option IDs, so match it against the paper.
  • 2026 Session 1 (January): if the B.Tech papers or final key aren’t on that page, check NTA’s public notices.

Frequently asked questions

Which is the best PYQ book for JEE Main?

For Main only, Disha Errorless 202 25 Year JEE Main (10th edn) PCM combo, or MTG’s 25 Years set as an equal alternative; buy one, not both. If you’re also sitting Advanced, buy Disha’s 49 + 25 combined set instead (see the quick verdict).

Where can I find JEE Main previous-year papers with solutions as PDFs?

NTA publishes the official question papers and final answer keys free on jeemain.nta.nic.in: for example the 2026 Session 2, 2 April Shift 1 paper and the Session 2 B.Tech final answer key, which gives question IDs and correct option IDs. NTA gives answers, not worked solutions. For step-by-step solutions you need a book. Oswaal’s product page calls its 25 Years Physics “fully solved” and PW’s store promises “detailed solutions”; Disha’s and MTG’s sets also include solutions, going by their listings and the buyer reviews we read on 19 Oct 2026. Check the listing for the edition you buy. Be wary of free “PDF with solutions” uploads of these books; they are unofficial copies, and you can’t check which edition they are.

How many years of PYQs should I solve?

For Main only, start with the newest papers (free from NTA) and work back chapter by chapter as far as your book goes; you don’t need a second archive. For Main + Advanced, one combined set covers both.

Which JEE PYQ books should I shortlist first?

For Main only, Disha’s 10th edn combo or MTG’s 25 Years set. For Main + Advanced, Disha’s 22nd edn combo. Consider Oswaal if you want notes beside the questions, and Arihant if you want a graded order and accept selective coverage.

Should I buy a combined JEE Main and Advanced PYQ book?

Only if you are sitting Advanced. Then buy it instead of a Main-only set, because its Main sections repeat the same papers.

Is a chapterwise book better than yearwise papers?

They do different jobs. Use chapterwise while you study a topic, and full papers (free from NTA) for timed practice closer to the exam.

Do I need PYQ books from two publishers?

No. The questions are the same official papers. Add a second source only for missing sessions, and those are free from NTA.

Should I replace an older JEE PYQ book?

Keep it if it reaches 2025. Download the 2026 papers free. Replace it if it stops several years back or follows an old syllabus. The 2027 syllabus is unchanged from 2026, so a 2026-syllabus book is not out of date.

Can I prepare using only previous-year questions?

No. PYQs test what you have learnt but don’t teach new topics. Keep your theory source and the official syllabus alongside them.

Updated 26 Oct 2026: what changed

  • PW on Flipkart: made clear that the Flipkart prices for the PW 8 Years books come from Repro-Books-on-Demand, which held Flipkart’s main buy box for those listings on the evening of 26 Oct 2026 (Physics Wallah held it on the singles that morning, so the main seller changes).
  • PW 8 Years: added Amazon and Flipkart prices with exact Amazon links for the three singles, and the PCM combo (ISBN 9789378189197) from PW’s store, Amazon and Flipkart.
  • New FAQs: which is the best PYQ book for JEE Main, and where to find JEE Main papers with solutions as PDFs.
  • Added a flowchart of the chapter-wise PYQ routine.
  • New sections: official JEE Main papers and answer keys (NTA links checked 26 Oct 2026), and a chapter-wise PYQ routine.
  • Added PW 8 Years (Amazon, Flipkart and PW store prices, and exact Amazon links) and an FAQ on how many years to solve; “How we checked” note.
  • Added NTA’s confirmed JEE Main 2027 Session 1 dates (20–24 and 28 January 2027; applications close 22 November 2026) and the 2027 syllabus and bulletin, published 24 Oct 2026. The 2027 syllabus matches 2026.
  • Rechecked every price on 26 Oct 2026. Changes since 19–20 Oct: Disha 10th edn Maths on Amazon (₹467 to ₹532); on Flipkart, the MTG set (₹1,967 to ₹1,770), MTG singles (₹670/654/707 to ₹693/557/657), the Arihant combo (₹1,982 to ₹1,843), Arihant singles (₹438/582/445 to ₹597/533/531), the Oswaal set (₹2,480 to ₹1,690) and Disha 22nd edn Physics (₹526 to ₹791). Added Flipkart prices for the Disha 22nd edn Chemistry and Maths singles, and Oswaal’s own-store prices.
  • Settled the Oswaal price conflict: MRP ₹1,099 per single, confirmed on Oswaal’s store, Amazon and Flipkart. The ₹399 figure was wrong. Added the Oswaal Chemistry single and exact Amazon links for the Oswaal Chemistry and Maths singles.
  • Removed the star-rating reference.
  • Updated to the 2027-exam editions. MTG is now 25 Years (2026–2002) JEE Main PYQ, published May 2026. Oswaal is now JEE Main 25 Years’ (203 Shifts: 2002–2026), published April 2026. The old links pointed to the 2024 and 2025 editions.
  • Added ISBNs and prices for every set and single.
  • New section on choosing a Main-only or Main + Advanced set, so you buy one, not both.
  • Added a caveat that Arihant’s question coverage is selective.
  • Replaced Amazon searches with exact product links.
